Cotton mulch sheets effective for rice and other farming

IKAZAKI, Japan - A ''tanada'' terraced paddy field is covered by a set of two white cotton sheets, between which unhulled rice is put, in the Izumidani district in the town of Ikazaki, Ehime Prefecture, western Japan. The Izumidani tanada has been selected as one of Japan's 100 best terraced paddy fields. (Kyodo)
