'Agriculture bird' appears on Mt. Fuji

KOFU, Japan - A snow-made ''agriculture bird'' (C) appears on Mt. Fuji on June 15, a month later than usual, heralding the arrival of spring on the northern foot of the mountain. The appearance of the bird figure prompted local farmers to begin rice planting in the olden days. (Kyodo)

This sowing was possible after learning that the Commission of the Guadalquivir Hydrographic Confederation (CHG) granted them an endowment of two thirds of the total maximum water they can obtain, that is, 264 cubic hectometers.
