1st sunset seen from Mt. Fuji this year
KOFU, Japan - A group of some 20 climbers on the 3,776-meter-high Mt. Fuji hail the sunset seen through a break in the clouds from a point near the 8th station, located above 3,000 meters, early on the morning of July 1. Japan's highest mountain, west of Tokyo, was opened to climbers the same day. But people are only allowed to go up to halfway between 8th and 9th stations due to the remaining snow and ice. (Kyodo)
