Lower house votes down no-confidence motion against Aso Cabinet
TOKYO, Japan - Yukio Hatoyama, president of the main opposition Democratic Party of Japan, explains a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Taro Aso's Cabinet proposed by the opposition during a plenary session of the House of Representatives on July 14. The lower house voted down the motion but the opposition-controlled House of Councillors later endorsed a nonbinding censure motion against the prime minister. (Kyodo)
