Ancient whaling reenacted in Yamaguchi whaling festival
YAMAGUCHI, Japan - The ancient Japanese method of whaling is reenacted at a whaling festival in Kayoi, a former whaling town in Nagato, Yamaguchi Prefecture, on July 21. Using a 13-meter-long water-spouting whale model, participants in the festival showed how ancient Japanese whalers corner a whale with the use of nets and spears.
