Hua, successor to Mao as Chinese leader, dies at 87: Xinhua
TOKYO, Japan - Former Communist Party chief Hua Guofeng (file photo), who was the successor to Mao Zedong as China's paramount leader, has died in Beijing, the official Xinhua News Agency reported on Aug. 20. He was 87. The report did not mention the cause of death. (Kyodo)
