Hua, successor to Mao as Chinese leader, dies at 87
TOKYO, Japan - Former Chinese Communist Party chief Hua Guofeng (file photo taken in May, 1980), who was the successor to Mao Zedong as the country's paramount leader, died in Beijing on Wednesday due to illness, the official Xinhua News Agency reported on Aug. 20. He was 87. (Kyodo)
