'Green curtain' on city hall
HASHIMOTO, Japan - Photo taken on Aug. 22, 2011 shows ''green curtain'' of goya, bitter gourd, shading the windows of city hall in Hashimoto, Wakayama Prefecture, western Japan, as a means of power saving. About 600 goya plants were planted in June to cover the windows of the city hall. Citizens donate money to secure the right to freely take the goya fruits, with the donations to be sent to quake-hit areas in northeastern Japan. (Kyodo)
