'Akkesiso' turn red in eastern Hokkaido
KUSHIRO, Japan - Tourists trek on a path through a carpet of ''akkesiso'' or generally known as ''sangoso'' (coral plants) that grow in banks near Lake Notoro on the Okhotsuk Sea in eastern Hokkaido on Sept. 13. The plant turns reddish in color early in autumn. (Kyodo)
