Fukuda campaigns in Fukushima
IWAKI, Japan - Former Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuo Fukuda shakes hands with local residents during a campaign tour of Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture, on Sept. 20 ahead of the presidential election of the Liberal Democratic Party. Fukuda is vying for the prime ministership in a two-man race with LDP Secretary General Taro Aso. The election will take place Sept. 23 and the winner will become prime minister as the LDP holds a majority in the House of Representatives. (Kyodo)
