Ex-LDP policy chief Ishihara willing to run in party election

TOKYO, Japan - Former Liberal Democratic Party Policy Research Council Chairman Nobuteru Ishihara (in file photo) told reporters Sept. 4 he would run in the Sept. 22 LDP presidential election if he can secure recommendations from colleague lawmakers. The election will be held as Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda abruptly resigned earlier this week. (Kyodo)
