Ichiro reaches 2,000th hit milestone
OAKLAND, United States - Seattle Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki slams the 2,000th hit of his major league career in the first inning of a game against the Oakland Athletics on Sept. 6, 2009. Suzuki became the second-fastest player to register 2,000 hits in major league history, reaching the milestone in his 1,402nd game. Hall of Famer Al Simmons achieved the feat in 1,390 games. (Kyodo)
