Japan-U.S. joint drill on Amami-Oshima Island
A joint drill of the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force and the U.S. Army takes place on Amami-Oshima Island in Kagoshima Prefecture, southwestern Japan, on July 1, 2021. A U.S. Army Patriot Advanced Capability-3 ballistic missile interceptor (R) was used in the regular Orient Shield drill for the first time.
