New Wildfires Hit South Of France
Dense smoke darkens the sky from reignited forest fires north of Grimaud, in the department of Var, southern France on August 18, 2021. Hundreds of firefighters struggled for a third day on August 18 to contain France's worst wildfire of the summer near the glitzy Riviera resort of Saint-Tropez which has left one person dead and forced thousands of residents and tourists to flee. Around 750 firefighters and water-dropping aircraft were battling the blaze in difficult conditions, with high temperatures and strong winds. Photo by Florian Escoffier/ABACAPRESS.COM
