TAIWAN-FESTIVAL
Believers scatter underground banknotes before burning the King Boat to call upon gods to help, during the triennial Donggang King Boat Featival (also known as the Wangye Worshiping Ceremony), a traditional ritual that has been inherited since the Qing dynasty and is used for saving people from plagues and pandemics, in Donggang Township, Pingtung, Taiwan, 31 October 2021. The week-long ceremony is held to ask for help from gods to save the people from pandemics and plagues, with devotees and temples going through a series of protocols including paying worships to different local gods, and burning a tremendous wooden boat.
