Emergency fire prevention inspections in Osaka

Fire department officials inspect a building in Osaka on Dec. 22, 2021, to check fire prevention measures there. The Osaka Municipal Fire Department plans to conduct emergency inspections of about 5,400 multiple tenant buildings that are three stories or taller with single staircases in the wake of a recent arson attack at a multiple tenant building in the city's downtown area that killed more than 20 people.
