Preparation for bean-throwing event in Japan
Jissho Hasegawa, the chief priest of Daichi-in temple in Chita, Aichi Prefecture, decorates containers on Jan. 15, 2022, to put in beans for "setsubun" (seasonal division) marking the start of spring under the Japanese lunar calendar. People in Japan throw beans to drive away demons and welcome good luck in early February.
