Japan to put Tokyo, 12 prefectures under COVID quasi-emergency
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida (2nd from R) says at a meeting of the government task force on COVID-19 measures in Tokyo on Jan. 19, 2022 that Tokyo and 12 prefectures will be placed under a coronavirus quasi-state of emergency for about three weeks from Jan. 21 amid the rapid spread of the Omicron variant.
