"Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday regretted the latest situation between Russia and Ukraine and had hoped that diplomacy could avert a military conflict. He said this in an official meeting with the Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the statement released by the Prime Minister's office in Islamabad.
The prime minister stressed that conflict was not in anyone's interest and that the developing countries were always hit the hardest economically in case of conflict. He underlined Pakistan's belief that disputes should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
Khan had about a three-hour meeting with Putin in the Kremlin on Thursday, during his two-day official visit to Russia from Feb. 2
