The Egyptian Railways Authority (ERA) announced on Saturday that a batch of third class air-conditioned trains will officially be in service by Tuesday.
In a statement, the authority added the service, which will be offered for the first time, will cover capitals of governorates only, in addition to Edfu and Kom Ombo stations.
It said the new and fast service will start on the Cairo-Aswan line on Tuesday, explaining that other lines will also be included in the newly introduced service soon.
In late Dec. 2021, Egypt announced the retirement of the old railway carriages running on its 10,000-kilometer railway tracks, which currently transport up to 1.1 million passengers on a daily basis.
