Nonstop, solo Pacific crossing by Japanese yachtsman

Japanese adventurer Kenichi Horie waves at Osaka airport in western Japan on March 15, 2022, prior to flying to San Francisco to attempt a nonstop solo voyage from the U.S. city to the western Japan city of Nishinomiya from March to June on the Suntory Mermaid III yacht. The 83-year-old, the first person to sail across the Pacific solo and nonstop in 1962, will be the oldest person to do so if successful.
