STORYLINE:
India's wholesale price index (WPI) rose to 13.11 percent in February, data released by the federal ministry of commerce and industry Monday showed.
"The annual rate of inflation is 13.11 (provisional) for the month of February 2022 as compared to 4.83 percent in February 2021. The high rate of inflation in February 2022 is primarily due to the rise in prices of mineral oils, basic metals, chemicals, and chemical products, crude petroleum and natural gas, food articles and non-food articles, etc. as compared to the corresponding month of the previous year," a statement issued by the ministry said.
In January, wholesale price inflation (WPI) was 12.96 percent.
