Rising food prices in Jordan are overshadowing the spiritual atmosphere of the holy month of Ramadan.
Helmi Alzaben, a Jordanian who shopped for Ramadan, said his only solution to counter the constantly rising food prices is to reduce spending.

"Prices have gone up a lot compared with before. So I searched the market, compared prices, and bought cheaper goods. I also try to reduce the quantities, especially cooking oil, meat and milk, as their prices have risen dramatically. I may never buy some items if their prices keep rising. However, my income has not increased for many years."
