STORYLINE:
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said that over 1,000 civilians have been evacuated from Ukraine's conflict-affected city of Mariupol in the eastern Donetsk area with assistance from the ICRC.

"We hope that we'll be back and continue to provide the safe passage to the civilians. And we have also observed acute humanitarian needs that we hope to respond as a neutral humanitarian intermediary and continue to help civilians."
The ICRC said the team had led a convoy of buses and private cars with civilians to enable them safely flee Mariupol to Ukraine's southern city of Zaporizhzhia.
