STORYLINE:
The National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) reported that inflation rate in France rose to 4.5 percent in March, with the biggest upward pressure coming from energy cost, which increased by 28.9 percent.
Food prices increased by 2.8 percent, including fresh products by 7.2 percent, manufactured goods by 2.1 percent, and services went up by 2.3 percent.
INSEE estimated that the war in Ukraine is already causing a "shock of confidence" for French businesses and households.
After reaching 3.6 percent in February, a level not seen since 2008 but contained by the "tariff shield" put in place by the government, inflation would rise in the spring.
