STORYLINE:
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has successfully repatriated another batch of 158 stranded Nigerians in Libya, an official with the Nigerian Mission in Tripoli said.
Kabiru Musa, Charge d'affaires of the Nigerian Mission in Libya, disclosed this in a statement made available to reporters on Tuesday in Abuja, Nigeria's capital.
According to Musa, the 158 repatriated Nigerians were men, women, and children that were stranded or rescued victims of human trafficking.
Libya has been suffering insecurity and chaos since the fall of the late leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, making the North African country a preferred point of departure for illegal immigrants who want to cross the Mediterranean Sea to European shores.
