Since the extreme weather wreaked havoc in Australia's east coast in late February, the states of Queensland and New South Wales (NSW) have experienced some of its worst rainfall and flooding in recorded history, causing considerable habitat loss to animals.
Coinciding with Earth Day, Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) in Queensland, one of the conservation groups who had tirelessly retrieved soaked animals from the rooftops of submerged homes or simply clinging to life on the trees during floods, addressed the impacts of habitat loss on wild animals.
RSPCA said the wildlife admitted into their care are largely impacted by habitat loss, road accidents and disease. Lots of animals were suffering exhaustion due to trying to escape floodwaters but finding themselve
