The incident took place at 12:24 p.m. in Wangcheng District in the provincial capital Changsha. Rescuers including firefighters and armed police are closely monitoring the situation of a dike breach in Dongting Lake in central China's Hunan Province which occurred Friday afternoon, local authorities have said. The dike breach that occurred in the Dongting Lake was initially about 10 meters wide but expanded afterward. As of 10 p.m. Friday, 5,000 residents in the affected area had been safely relocated.
