Mahjoub Al-Awni, a member of Tunisia's Scientific Committee for Fighting the COVID-19, told local media on Thursday that due to the rapid spread of Omicron's sub-variants, a new wave of COVID-19 in Tunisia may appear.
Al-Awni said that although Tunisia has lifted almost all lockdown measures for COVID-19, people still need to be vigilant about the epidemic. He warned that large gatherings and celebrations during the Eid al-Fitr last week may lead to a sixth wave of the epidemic in the country.
He emphasized that according to the current analysis, the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccines will decline after four months of vaccination and it is necessary to regularly inject booster shots.
