STORYLINE:
As of Monday, May 16, the compulsory wearing of masks on public transport in France has been lifted. This applies to the metro, buses, trains, planes and taxis.
Mask mandate was the country's last anti-pandemic measure imposed in public places to curb the COVID-19. However, some locals still believe that, in some places, wearing masks is necessary to protect oneself.
The French government still recommends the use of masks in very crowded areas, in enclosed and poorly ventilated places and especially in the presence of vulnerable people.
