Hungary, a landlocked country that is heavily dependent on Russian energy supplies, strongly opposes the EU's sanctions against the Russian energy sector.
In its sixth sanction package aimed against Moscow, the EU plans to phase out Russian crude oil within six months and refined products by the end of the year.
Russia has been supplying more than 60 percent of Hungary's oil demand and 85 percent of its natural gas demand.
