One of the worst heatwaves to affect Spain is the main reason behind a series of wildfires that have destroyed thousands of hectares of woodland in recent days.
The fire in the nature reserve of the Sierra de la Culebra in the province of Zamora in northwest Spain has destroyed over 20,000 hectares of wood and scrubland after being started by a lightning strike.
Around 1,700 people have been evacuated in Zamora. Ano
