STORYLINE:
Egypt has opened a new market for the country's citrus, for the first time, to New Zealand, the Agriculture Ministry said on Thursday.
The Egyptian authorities announced that "the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Al-Qusair, received a report from the head of the Egyptian Agricultural Quarantine stating that a new market had been opened to export all Egyptian citrus varieties to New Zealand, after the successful opening of the market to oranges two years ago."
The step came after two-year negotiations and technical visits between the two countries.
The negotiations led to a protocol that has been signed between the Egyptian agricultural quarantine
