STORYLINE:
The Indian government would soon set up dedicated control rooms and form special enforcement teams to check illegal manufacture, import, stocking, distribution, sale and use of banned single-use plastic (SUP) items.
All states and territories in the country have been asked to set up border checkpoints to stop the inter-state movement of any banned SUP items, said an official announcement, which reiterated a complete ban on the use of SUP in the country with effect from July 1.
