GLOBALink | Motherland critical to Hong Kong's development: Pakistani economist
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.
From 1997 to 2021, Hong Kong's GDP more than doubled from 1.37 trillion Hong Kong dollars (174.59 billion U.S. dollars) to 2.86 trillion Hong Kong dollars.
Its economy remains one of the freest and most open in the world.
A Pakistani economist said that the 25 years should be celebrated as a great period of Hong Kong's renewal and continuing growth, in which the motherland plays a critical role.
