The first running of the bulls through the streets of Pamplona signaled the return of the world-famous San Fermin fiestas after a two-year break due to COVID-19 on Thursday.
The highly dangerous "Encierro" as it is known sees hundreds of locals and tourists risk their lives to run alongside six fighting bulls from their holding pens to the city bullring at 8 o'clock every morning for the seven days of the Fiesta.
Five people suffered slight injuries during Thursday's first chaotic run.
San Fermin sees the population of Pamplona swell from its usual 200,000 inhabitants to around a million, with Spanish railway operator Renfe preparing extra trains for the whole weeks.
