Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population said on Wednesday that no cases of monkeypox have been detected in Egypt and that the possibility of its spread in Middle Eastern countries is still not high.
The Ministry of Health and Population added that the level of surveillance has been raised in all land and sea ports and quarantine places.
Egyptian Health Ministry's spokesman Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar said the monkeypox virus spreads through close contact, mainly through direct exposure to rashes, contaminated clothing or linens, or through respiratory droplets of the infected person.
