Myanmar welcomed 42,315 foreign tourists between April and June, up 22.9 percent year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.
The Southeast Asian country resumed the operations of international commercial flights in April, and the number of tourists visiting the country gradually increased, the ministry's figures showed.
Myanmar's Ministry of Hotels and Tourism was working to revive its pandemic-hit tourism industry, drawing a strategic roadmap for Myanmar tourism recovery (2021-2025) that includes 18 strategies and 93 actions, Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Htay Aung has said.
Official data showed that more than 4.36 million tourists visited Myanmar in 2019 before the COVID-19 outbreak occurred in the country.
