India's federal telecom minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday asked telecom operators to prepare for the launch of 5G in the South Asian country.
According to the minister, the letters for spectrum assignment have been issued.
"Spectrum assignment letter issued. Requesting telecommunications service providers (TSPs) to prepare for 5G launch," Vaishnaw in a brief update about 5G on social media said.
India is in the final stage of rolling out high-speed 5G telecom services in the country.
Earlier this month, the Indian government announced it had put 72,098 MHz (72 GHz) spectrum of 5G airwaves to auction.
