STORYLINE:
The Hungarian General Directorate of Water Management (OVF) recently announced that Hungary has gone through the driest seven months since 1901, with almost half of the average amount of precipitation is missing.
Ten of the country's 12 regional water management authorities had to implement a high level of water shortage preparedness, it said.
Due to the drought, Hungary's largest lakes and rivers are at their record-low levels.
The lack of precipitation has made all traditional crops struggle in the heatwaves.
