A major bridge in Croatia has witnessed the passage of nearly 500,000 vehicles in its first month of operation.
The Peljesac Bridge was built by a Chinese consortium led by the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC).
It opened to traffic on July 26.
SOUNDBITE 1 (English): SLAVISA BABIC, Head of Traffic Department at Croatian Roads Ltd.
"The average daily traffic is more than 15,500 vehicles, which is more than we expected. Just for instance, if you went to the island of Korcula, the bridge will shorten your travel by about an hour or an hour and a half during summertime. This will definitely boost tourism in the south part of Croatia."
