STORYLINE:
Türkiye's annual inflation hit 80.21 percent in August, the highest in 24 years, the Turkish Statistical Institute announced Monday.
The transport sector recorded an annual price surge of 116.87 percent, the cost of furnishings and household equipment increased by 92.02 percent, and food and non-alcoholic drinks prices by 90.25 percent, according to the institute.
Consumer prices increased by 1.46 percent month on month in August, while the domestic producer price index (PPI) climbed by 2.41 percent. The PPI's annual rise was 143.75 percent in the same month.
