"Long COVID is keeping 4 million people out of work in the United States. At least 170 billion U.S. dollars is estimated in lost wages a year.
This is a significant economic burden at a time when the cost of living is rising steeply, Forbes recently cited a Brookings report.
Around 8 percent of working-age Americans, or 16.3 million people, currently have long COVID.
Officially estimated, as many as 7 million to 23 million people are impacted by long COVID.
According to a July 2021 study, about 27 percent of long COVID patients worked as many hours as they did before falling ill. As a direct result of long COVID, approximately 23 percent weren't working at all.
