Faced with soaring energy prices, the town hall of Lyon, France, has decided to turn off lights at part of its public monuments at night four days a week.
Museums, churches, bridges are affected by this "energy sobriety" measure.
Several French cities have announced plans in recent days to save energy. Some have decided to limit public lighting at night to reduce electricity costs.
The measure targets lighting that is not strictly necessary for the circulation of pedestrians and motorists.
