The rare bird species mainly lives in China's Yunnan, Guangdong, Guangxi and other provinces. It has been put under second-class national protection. Some bird experts had thought that blossom-headed parakeet might have disappeared in China years ago, until seven of them were spotted in Yunnan in 2015.
