STORYLINE:
A Chinese hydropower station worker has been found alive in Sichuan Province, 17 days after an earthquake struck the region.
Gan Yu went missing after the 6.8-magnitude earthquake hit Luding County.
The 28-year-old was rescued by a local villager on Wednesday.
Ni Taigao, the villager who found Gan, decided to join the search for Gan because he was familiar with local mountains.
Gan told Ni that he had survived the ordeal by eating wild fruits and drinking spring water.
Doctors said that Gan suffered from multiple soft tissue injuries, several fractures, and severe infections.
Despite physical weakness, his vital signs were stable.
