The tunnel stretched 6,680 meters with six lanes and a designed maximum speed of 60 km per hour. It shortens the cross-sea passage time to less than 10 minutes. It will offer an alternative way for commuters in case of extreme weather conditions, including typhoons and storms, when both of the two existing sea-crossing bridges will be put under temporary traffic controls.
