Animal sacrifice in Nepal on Maha Nawami
Nepal Army personnels hold the traditional weaponary "Khukuri" while the religious procession is underway on open square in Kathmandu Durbar Square on the day of Maha Nawami, the ninth day of fortnightly festival of Dashain observed in Nepal. On Maha Nawami, he-goats, ducks, roosters and he-buffalos are sacrificed at various temples dedicated to the goddesses. Those who do not have the tradition of offering animal or bird sacrifices, offer the sacrifice of fruits and vegetables to the goddess.
