STORYLINE:
A turtle was released back to the sea at Golden Bay in Malta on Thursday.
Following a 10-month rehabilitation, the 5-year-old turtle was released back into the water by students taking part in the Young Reports for the Environment initiative and in the presence of Environment Minister Miriam Dalli.
The turtle had been rescued off the island of Gozo last December after ingesting hooks, nylon and even a flipper found in the sea.
An average of 50 turtles are rescued every year in Maltese waters. Eight turtles are currently undergoing treatment.
