STORYLINE:
A new ski season kicked off Friday in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin Province.
Located at 41 to 43 degrees north latitude, Jilin is endowed with excellent natural conditions for developing the ice and snow industry. It has long been one of the most popular skiing destinations in China.
Due to the rising skiing boom around the country in recent years, the ski resorts in Jilin have seized the opportunity to improve their infrastructures and services.
Jilin has built 54 ski resorts and 279 snow tracks with a maximum daily capacity of about 100,000 visitors.
According to a blueprint unveiled by Jilin in October 2021, by 2025, the value of the province's ice and snow industry is expected to exceed 250 billion yuan (about 39.4 billion U.S. dollars) with a total number
